The TMI-Episcopal Panthers won the last time they faced the St. Joseph Academy Bloodhounds, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Given TMI-Episcopal's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 349th, while St. Joseph Academy is ranked 795th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
St. Joseph Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jason Aguilar, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Oscar Balli, who scored five points along with nine rebounds and five steals.
TMI-Episcopal is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 20-17 record this season. As for St. Joseph Academy, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 12-14.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. TMI-Episcopal will take on St. Augustine at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. TMI-Episcopal has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 539 points over their last seven matchups. As for St. Joseph Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Saint Mary's Hall at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Saint Mary's Hall knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 15 games -- so hopefully St. Joseph Academy likes a good challenge.
