Jack Quinn made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Cardinal O'Hara is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 1-2 otherwise. Quinn was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, Brendan Till was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Sean Vaughn was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, St. Joseph's Prep came up short against Archbishop Ryan on Wednesday and fell 7-2.
St. Joseph's Prep also got a good showing from Eddie Dingle, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, St. Joseph's Prep saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Robby Grasso, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
St. Joseph's Prep now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Cardinal O'Hara, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.
St. Joseph's Prep's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Cardinal O'Hara has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .435. It's a different story for St. Joseph's Prep, though, as they've only averaged .284. Will they be able to contain Cardinal O'Hara's hitters?
Cardinal O'Hara suffered a grim 14-0 defeat to St. Joseph's Prep in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
