The River Bluff Gators are on the road again on Friday and play against the Summerville Green Wave at 7:30 p.m. on November 3rd. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, it was a hard-fought game, but River Bluff had to settle for a 41-38 loss against Chapin.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Aaron Griffin, who picked up 114 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Toriaun Leaphart, who rushed for 151 yards while picking up 7.2 yards per carry.
Meanwhile, Summerville put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Fort Dorchester as Summerville made off with a 48-28 win. Considering Summerville has won seven games by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Summerville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Trae Green, who rushed for 226 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.8 yards per carry. Green was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 66 yards. Yannick Smith also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
River Bluff's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Summerville, their victory was their 12th straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 10-0.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. River Bluff has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 185.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Summerville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 175.7 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
