After two games on the road, University is heading back home. They will take on the Westfield Shamrocks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. University will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 181st, while Westfield is ranked fourth).
On Friday, University came up short against Bethesda Christian and fell 62-52.
The losing side was boosted by Max Mccomb, who scored 19 points. Another player making a difference was Bryce Gray, who scored 14 points.
Meanwhile, Westfield scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 86-37 victory over Hamilton Heights. Westfield has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 25 points or more this season.
Nic Book continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 23 points along with seven rebounds. Charles Farrell was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with three steals.
University has not been sharp recently as the team has lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season. As for Westfield, their victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-2.
Tuesday's game is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: University have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 40.9% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Westfield struggles in that department as they've made 48.1% of their threes this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
University didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Westfield when the teams last played back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 71-67 win. Does University have another victory up their sleeve, or will Westfield turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
