The Midlothian Heritage Jaguars have been a dominant force so far but will be looking to break out of a two-game mini slump. They fell 42-33 to Idalou on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Midlothian Heritage can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 204th, while Idalou is ranked 92nd).
When it comes to explaining why Midlothian Heritage lost, one person who can't be blamed is Grace Sweeney. Despite the final result, she scored 20 points. Sweeney scored a full 60.6% of Midlothian Heritage's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Bri Finch, who scored 8 points.
Midlothian Heritage's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Idalou, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Midlothian Heritage will take on Centennial at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Idalou, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Frenship at 6:15 p.m. Frenship knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 12 matches -- so hopefully Idalou likes a good challenge.
