The Eunice Cardinals will challenge the Loving Falcons at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Eunice sitting on ten straight wins and Loving on three.
Eunice is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They never let Raton get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won 14 games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Haziel Goitia looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Luis Zamora, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April. Misa Brito was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Eunice always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Raton only posted an OBP of .381.
Loving came out on top against Mesilla Valley Christian School on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run first inning. The Falcons sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over the SonBlazers. That's two games straight that the Falcons have won by exactly two runs.
Eunice's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Loving, their victory bumped their record up to 13-7.
Eunice came out on top in a nail-biter against Loving in their previous meeting back in April, sneaking past 3-2. Do the Cardinals have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
