Batesville has gone 9-1 against North Decatur recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Batesville Bulldogs will take on the North Decatur Chargers at 7:30 p.m. Batesville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.2 points per game this season.
Batesville is headed into the matchup having just posted their biggest win since February 13, 2024 on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Connersville 61-33. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Bulldogs had established a 21 point advantage.
Batesville's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was James Hughes, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Hughes continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cade Kaiser, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 14 points along with six assists and three steals.
Batesville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, North Decatur narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Morristown 45-43.
North Decatur's win came from a few key players Batesville will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Brady Mauer, who posted 11 points and eight boards. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Owen Eldridge, who made all 5 shots he took to post 10 points.
North Decatur's record is now 6-10. As for Batesville, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's match: Batesville has been dynamite from deep this season, having made 38.1% of their three-pointers per game. It's a different story for North Decatur, though, as they've only made 26.6% of their three-pointers this season. Given Batesville's sizable advantage in that area, North Decatur will need to find a way to close that gap.
Batesville took their win against North Decatur in their previous meeting back in January of 2024 by a conclusive 67-46. The rematch might be a little tougher for Batesville since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
