Tri-County - Rock recap Nov. 7, 2012
St. Mary's moved up to 570 from 600 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Tri-County - Rock. The Panthers climbed the ranks as a result of topping Pinole Valley 28-17.
El Cerrito extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating St. Patrick/St. Vincent, 60-6. The victory was the 10th in a row for the team.
The Bruins' dynamic duo of Christian Bustamante and Marcus Villalobos proved tough for El Cerrito to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Bustamante threw for eight yards and Villalobos had eight yards receiving.
Howard Wikle was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 34 carries, he ran for 370 yards as Valley Christian lost to Kenny Kahn's team. Teammate A.J. Harris added to the ground attack by rushing for 53 yards.
St. Mary's' Kevin Flemer and Caleb Coleman have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Tri-County - Rock in both passing and receiving yards. Flemer has thrown for 1914 yards this season, while Coleman has 34 catches for 616 yards. Wikle from the Vikings leads the league in rushing with 1808 yards.
The Panthers' Flemer is within 86 passing yards of surpassing 2,000 on the season coming into this week's game against Middletown.
The Gauchos led the league in scoring this week after putting up 60 points on the Bruins.
