It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Lakeway Christian Academy Lions ultimately got the result they hoped for on Sunday. They managed a 62-58 victory over Downey Christian. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lakeway Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kami Wilson, who scored 26 points along with five rebounds. The game was Wilson's 15th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Linx, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds.
Lakeway Christian Academy's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-8. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.3 points per game. As for Downey Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakeway Christian Academy and King's Academy will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. King's Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Lakeway Christian Academy in Tennessee (King's Academy is ranked 49th, while Lakeway Christian Academy is ranked 207th). As for Downey Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Boone at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Mckenna Murphy and Rosemarie Lisojo.
