The Brandon Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Harrison Central Red Rebels at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Brandon is coming into the contest hot, having won their last eight games.
Last Thursday, Brandon faced Northwest Rankin in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Brandon enjoyed a cozy 27-10 win over Northwest Rankin.
Brandon's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nate Blount iv, who rushed for 107 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Landon Varnes, who threw for 194 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Harrison Central had to suffer through a rough 49-7 loss at the hands of Gulfport. Harrison Central was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-7.
Harrison Central's defeat came about despite a quality game from Tyree Barnett, who picked up 128 receiving yards and a touchdown. Barnett's longest reception was for an incredible 80 yards.
Brandon's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 8-1 Oak Grove and 8-2 Warren Central (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 72.2% over those games). As for Harrison Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season.
Brandon took their win against Harrison Central in their previous meeting back in November of 2021 by a conclusive 39-13. Does Brandon have another victory up their sleeve, or will Harrison Central turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
