The Middle Park Panthers will square off against the Alameda Pirates at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Middle Park comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Middle Park had taken Clear Creek down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Monday. The Panthers fell 8-4 to the Golddiggers.
Diogui Laynes was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Laynes was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Those doubles marked the first that he has hit this season.
In other batting news, Liam Gray made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Alameda ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Bennett 18-17.
Alameda got a massive performance out of Marco Dominguez, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, five runs, and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Braeden Moore, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with seven RBI, three runs, and two doubles.
Alameda kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive games.
Alameda is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. As for Middle Park, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.
