The Orange Panthers are taking a road trip to take on the Person Rockets at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Orange is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
Orange is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 15 runs on Friday, they were much more limited against Cedar Ridge on Tuesday. They came up short against the Fighting Red Wolves, falling 7-1.
Allie Carden was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run.
Person not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 9, 2024. They were the clear victor by an 11-1 margin over Williams. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rockets.
Macey Bowes made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in hits.
In other batting news, Camryn Clarke was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Another player making a difference was Kenzley Horne, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.
Person hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matchups.
Orange's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-3. As for Person, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Person's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Orange has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.5 hits per game. It's a different story for Person, though, as they've been averaging 10.9 hits. Given Orange's sizable advantage in that area, Person will need to find a way to close that gap.
