The Boothbay Seahawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They were dealt a 81-51 defeat at the hands of Maranacook. While losing is never fun, Boothbay can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked 108th, while Maranacook is ranked 22nd).
Boothbay's loss came despite strong showings from Finn Harkins and Tyson French. Harkins scored 19 points along with eight rebounds, while French scored 15 points along with seven assists and four steals. Harkins scored a full 37.3% of Boothbay's points, the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Boothbay has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season. As for Maranacook, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-1.
Boothbay will head out on the road to face off against Mountain Valley at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Mountain Valley is on a three-game streak of home losses, Boothbay a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. Maranacook will take on Hall-Dale at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
