The Mount Dora Hurricanes's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their seventh straight loss. They took a serious blow against Oviedo, falling 61-15. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Mount Dora has scored all season.
It was another big night for Cameron Bryant, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and four steals for Oviedo. The match was Bryant's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Antonio Contreras, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Mount Dora bumped their record down to 1-12 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 25.5 points per game. As for Oviedo, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mount Dora won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Trinity Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th. Trinity Catholic is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak. As for Oviedo, they will be playing at home against Trinity Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Trinity Prep will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 478th, while Oviedo is ranked 28th).
