Santa Fe Trail is 8-2 against Osawatomie since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Chargers will host the Trojans at 4:30 p.m. The timing is sure in Santa Fe Trail's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while Osawatomie has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.
Last Thursday, Santa Fe Trail got the win against St. Marys by a conclusive 12-3. Considering the Chargers have won four matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Sydnee Sleichter made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played.
In other batting news, Kendall Baird was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Ellie Sowers, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Santa Fe Trail kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Osawatomie lost 13-6 to Baldwin on Thursday.
Like Santa Fe Trail, Osawatomie also got a great game from a two-way player: Gracie Fanning. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Fanning was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with three RBI.
In other batting news, Jules Beery was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3. Bailey Madden also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Osawatomie's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Santa Fe Trail, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.
Osawatomie's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Santa Fe Trail has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 12.3 hits per game. It's a different story for Osawatomie, though, as they've been averaging 9 hits. Given Santa Fe Trail's sizable advantage in that area, the Trojans will need to find a way to close that gap.
Santa Fe Trail took their victory against Osawatomie when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-1 score. Will the Chargers repeat their success, or do the Trojans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
