The Brawley Wildcats will square off against the Rocky Mountain Lobos at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Brawley has struggled recently with five losses in a row, while Rocky Mountain will arrive with five straight wins.
On Friday, Brawley didn't have quite enough to beat Calexico and fell 5-4.
Tate Preece made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Jacob Magana was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one RBI.
Meanwhile, while Rocky Mountain put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Greeley West. Rocky Mountain blew past Greeley West 17-0. The result was nothing new for the Lobos, who have now won three games by 13 runs or more so far this season.
Ross Frank and Wrigley Cox made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Frank tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Cox pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Frank scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Cox went 3-for-4 with one home run and three runs. What's more, Frank posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Riley Honick, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jalen Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
Rocky Mountain always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .629. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greeley West only posted an OBP of .333.
Rocky Mountain pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Brawley, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.
