The Brandeis Broncos will head out to square off against the Clark Cougars at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Brandeis is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
Brandeis fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Churchill on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Chargers by a score of 6-5.
Marina Pichardo spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Peyton Miers was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Tegan Brown also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Even though they lost, Brandeis kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. This was only their first loss (out of four games) when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Clark, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. Everything went their way against Madison on Monday as Clark made off with a 15-5 victory.
Heaven Villarreal was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Liegl, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Clark is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. Brandeis dropped their record down to 3-8 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.
Wednesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Brandeis hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .350. However, it's not like Clark struggles in that department as they've averaged .358. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Brandeis suffered a grim 22-5 defeat to Clark in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Brandeis avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
