Belleview has been on the road for five straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Lake Weir Hurricanes at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Belleview suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Thursday. They were beaten by Leesburg 72-15. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Belleview has scored all season.
The losing side was boosted by Aaliyah Armbrister, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That was a full 53.3% of Belleview's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Briyanna Miles was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Belleview struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Lake Weir, who are still winless after their tenth contest. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 41-30 loss to St. John Lutheran.
Belleview's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-3. As for Lake Weir, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-10.
Belleview was able to grind out a solid win over Lake Weir when the teams last played back in December of 2023, winning 39-26. Will Belleview repeat their success, or does Lake Weir have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
