Tri-City Christian are taking a road trip to challenge Santa Fe Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Tri-City Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
Tri-City Christian fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Escondido Charter on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 5-4. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost seven in a row.
Tri-City Christian saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abby Lisak, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Another was Kaedyn Ybarra, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Santa Fe Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They put the hurt on San Diego with a sharp 8-2 win on Monday. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Cavers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Torin Bennett spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on one hit and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Maya Tyszkiewicz was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024. Kayla Emond also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Santa Fe Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as San Diego only posted an OBP of .259.
Tri-City Christian's loss dropped their record down to 15-5-1. As for Santa Fe Christian, their record is now 8-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Tri-City Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Santa Fe Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Tri-City Christian came out on top in a nail-biter against Santa Fe Christian when the teams last played back in April, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Tri-City Christian since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
