Softball Recap: Winfield Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Winfield waltzed into their contest on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Fayette County Tigers a 7-0 shutout. Considering the Pirates have won 13 matchups by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Winfield's win bumped their record up to 21-11. As for Fayette County, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Winfield will head out to challenge Hackleburg at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Pirates' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season. As for Fayette County, they will head out on the road to take on Hamilton at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Aggies have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed seven runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
