The Fairmont Heights Hornets's three-game losing streak came to an end on Monday. They walked away with a 71-63 win over Douglass. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
When it comes to explaining why Douglass lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ke Milton. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Milton scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emmanuel Carson, who scored 17 points.
Even though they lost, Douglass smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Fairmont Heights' win bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Douglass, their loss ended a eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 9-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fairmont Heights won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Friendly at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. Friendly will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 217th, while Fairmont Heights is ranked 56th). As for Douglass, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. Hopefully Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Monday.
