The Scott Eagles will be home for the holidays to greet the Aiken Falcons at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Scott knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine matchups -- so hopefully Aiken likes a good challenge.
Scott pushed their score all the way to 56 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 61-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Dixie Heights. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Friday (55), Scott still had to take the loss.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Jon Evans, who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 18 points and 0 assists. That's the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. Dylan Giffen was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Meanwhile, even though Cooper scored an imposing 55 points on Thursday, Aiken still came out on top. Aiken walked away with a 63-55 win over Cooper. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Aiken.
Jaiden Arnold was his usual excellent self, scoring 27 points along with five rebounds and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Aiken's points. The team also got some help courtesy of James Burnett, who scored 16 points.
Scott's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Aiken, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's contest: Scott have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 5.9 threes per game. It's a different story for Aiken, though, as they've been averaging only 5.3 threes per game. Given Scott's sizeable advantage in that area, Aiken will need to find a way to close that gap.
Scott was able to grind out a solid victory over Aiken when the teams last played back in December of 2016, winning 67-57. Does Scott have another victory up their sleeve, or will Aiken turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
