The Peabody Warhorses can now show off 16 landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. Everything went their way against Neville as Peabody made off with a 69-48 win. Given Peabody's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while the Tigers are ranked 64th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Peabody's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jordan Mathews, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Mathews has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last eight times he's played. Zaydrien Sewell was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds.
Peabody is on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 20 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 25-5 record this season. As for Neville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-12 record this season.
Peabody won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Wildcats at 3:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Wossman is on a ten-game streak of home wins, the Warhorses a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Neville will take on the Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
