It was a good run, but the Sahuaro Cougars unfortunately witnessed the end of their ten-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 45-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of Estrella Foothills. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Sahuaro has scored all season.
Sahuaro lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Cassandra Coolidge, who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kristen Valdez, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Estrella Foothills to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nemo Sidhu, who scored 21 points. Eva Amenhauser was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with nine rebounds and six assists.
Sahuaro's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-1. As for Estrella Foothills, they pushed their record up to 12-1 with that win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season.
Sahuaro won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Monument Valley at 9:00 a.m. on December 16th. Monument Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 88th, while Sahuaro is ranked 11th). Estrella Foothills and Westview will face off at 9:00 p.m. on December 15th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Westview is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
