Decatur is on a three-game streak of home wins, while North Caroline is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Decatur Seahawks will take on the North Caroline Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Decatur has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 200 points over their last five games.
Even though Decatur has not done well against Kent Island recently (they were 0-8 in their previous eight matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Decatur took down Kent Island 33-15.
Decatur haved a senior duo take command as Brycen Coleman threw for 249 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.5 yards per attempt and Careen Bolden picked up 123 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Bolden was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 63 yards.
Meanwhile, North Caroline was fully in charge on Friday, breezing past Bennett 57-20 at home. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point North Caroline had established a 23 point advantage.
North Caroline's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tyson Weber, who rushed for 165 yards and four touchdowns on only 11 carries. Another player making a difference was Zymear Smith, who rushed for 157 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries.
The wins kept both teams' perfect 6-0 season records intact.
Decatur strolled past North Caroline in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 by a score of 43-27. Will Decatur repeat their success, or does North Caroline have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
