McGill-Toolen extended the longest winning streak in 6A Region 1 this week by beating Blount, 48-14. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.
McGill-Toolen led the league in scoring this week after putting up 48 points on the Leopards.
Murphy's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Kameron Maye threw for 68 and one touchdown and Michael Hudson had 48 yards receiving. On the ground Maye chipped in 168 yards. Sam Dixon helped Murphy's passing attack out by catching one ball for 20 yards.
The Panthers' Maye and Hudson have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Maye has thrown for 302 yards this season, while Hudson, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 11 catches for 265 yards. Baker's Berron Tyson leads the league in rushing yards with 1023.
Two of the top units in 6A Region 1 will face off this week when Murphy takes on the Hornets. Ronn Lee's team's offense has recorded 178 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while Baker has permitted only 67 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Hornets take on the Panthers. Baker is in second place, while Murphy is in fourth place.
There should be lots of points scored when the Hornets and the Panthers face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Baker comes in having scored 144 this season, while Murphy has scored 178. The Hornets scored 21 points last week as they beat Bryant.
Theodore made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 5,494 from 5,970. The improvement was the result of 41-0 victory over the Bobcats last week.
