Horizon and Monarch are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2016, but likely not for long. The Hawks will head out on the road to face off against the Coyotes at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Horizon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
Horizon proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by ten) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Centaurus 4-3. The victory was familiar territory for the Hawks, who have now won three contests in a row.

Drew Williams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up six Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Horizon is 3-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 6-7 otherwise.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cooper Brennan, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Diego Cabrera, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Mead hit Monarch with a five-run seventh inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Coyotes fell just short of the Mavericks by a score of 9-8.
Blake Thompson made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Chase Knudsen also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Horizon now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Monarch, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.
Monarch's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Horizon has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Monarch, though, as they've been averaging 9.6 hits. Given Horizon's sizable advantage in that area, the Coyotes will need to find a way to close that gap.
Horizon skirted past Monarch 3-2 in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hawks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
