Haines City suffered their biggest defeat since December 13, 2023 on Wednesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 70-45 walloping at the hands of Winter Haven. Haines City has struggled against Winter Haven recently, as their game on Wednesday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Haines City saw an underclassman step up: Zebrelle Canaday scored 19 points. Canaday is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last five games she's played. Mikeyla Hill was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Meanwhile, Mater Brighton Lakes Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their eighth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 64-18 loss at the hands of City of Life Christian Academy. Mater Brighton Lakes Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-10.
Rihanna Lopez was Mater Brighton Lakes Academy's leading scorer, having posted seven points.
Haines City's defeat dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Mater Brighton Lakes Academy, their loss was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-10.
