The St. Clair Bulldogs will venture away from home to challenge the Pacific Indians at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Clair's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Pacific's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
St. Clair came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 10-3 to Union. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Bulldogs, who until this game were averaging four runs allowed.
Nate Short was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Bo Robbins, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Pacific entered their tilt with Owensville on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Dutchmen with a sharp 12-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won six matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
The result came thanks to Bennett Parker's shutout, as he gave up just five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Connor Mooney and Gavin Haddox did most of the damage at the plate: Mooney got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base, while Haddox went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs Mooney has posted since back in April of 2024. Grant Kossuth was another key player, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Pacific hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive contests.
Pacific's record now sits at 9-2. As for St. Clair, they now have a losing record of 7-8.
St. Clair came up short against Pacific in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 6-1. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
