Northern Valley has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Triplains/Brewster Titans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Northern Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 32 on Tuesday.
Northern Valley lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the defeat they were handed on on Tuesday was a bit more commanding. They were beaten by Alma 65-38. While losing is never fun, Northern Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 264th in Kansas, while Alma is ranked 46th in Nebraska).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Austyn Cox, who scored 14 points along with two steals. She hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Audrey Bina was another key contributor, scoring six points along with 14 rebounds and five blocks.
Meanwhile, Triplains/Brewster ended up a good deal behind Logan/Palco on Saturday and lost 41-26.
Northern Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Triplains/Brewster, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-11.
Everything came up roses for Northern Valley against Triplains/Brewster when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 53-18 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Northern Valley since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
