Baseball Game Preview: Bay Tornadoes vs. Arnold Marlins

Bay is 1-9 against Arnold since March of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. Bay will look to defend their home field against Arnold at 6:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Friday, it was close, but Bay sidestepped LAMP for an 8-7 win.

The team relied heavily on Johnathan Corona, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. Edmund Mackie was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, Arnold came tearing into Wednesday's match with four straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Seahawks. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Marlins considering their two-run performance the game before.

Mason Laymon was incredible, scoring a run and stealing four bases while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Lindsey, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

Arnold was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Silverdale Academy only posted a batting average of .125.

Arnold's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 2.75 runs across that stretch. As for Bay, their win bumped their record up to 10-6.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Bay has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Arnold struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
