Nonnewaug put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Hamden Green Dragons a 17-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Chiefs, who have now won 11 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Scarlett Ivey was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Nonnewaug got a massive performance out of Gianna DeLorenzo, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases DeLorenzo has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlynn Blum, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

Nonnewaug hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive matchups.

Nonnewaug pushed their record up to 14-0 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.7 runs over those games. As for Hamden, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.

Nonnewaug will venture away from home to face off against Lakeview at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Hamden, they will welcome West Haven at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
