Football Recap: Brenham Piles Up the Points Against Sterling

Brenham won the last time they faced Sterling and things went their way on Thursday too. The Cubs blew past the Raiders 49-8. Given the Cubs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 87th, while the Raiders are ranked 764th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Brenham got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Xyran Upshaw out in front who rushed for six yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 59 yards and one TD. Those 59 passing yards gave Upshaw a new career-high.

Brenham has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 41.5 points this season. As for Sterling, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brenham will challenge Bryan at 7:00 p.m. on the 12th. As for Sterling, they will be playing at home against Sharpstown at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup will give the Raiders their first taste of in-conference action this season.
