Baseball Recap: Delaware County Christian Extends Winning Streak to Three

Delaware County Christian entered their tilt with Church Farm on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Griffens a 14-0 shutout. That's more bragging rights for the Knights, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Beau Lyren made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Delaware County Christian is 4-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 4-6 otherwise. Lyren was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Delaware County Christian let Sam Dixon and Reid Darnall run wild. Dixon went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Darnall went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Delaware County Christian is 4-1 when Darnall posts two or more runs, but 4-7 otherwise. Gabe Digregorio also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Delaware County Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.

Delaware County Christian pushed their record up to 8-8 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Church Farm, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-9.

Looking ahead, Delaware County Christian will take on Faith Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Lions' pitching crew has only allowed 1.3 runs per game this season, so the Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Church Farm does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
