The Kettle Run Cougars will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Skyline Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Skyline took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Kettle Run, who comes in off a win.
Kettle Run is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Liberty. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Eagles on Friday. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Adam Ibrahim tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and not a single walk).
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Colby McElfish, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Bellovich, who went 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Skyline suffered their closest defeat since April 2, 2025 on Monday. They fell just short of Brentsville District by a score of 5-3.
Skyline also got a good showing from Cohen Racer, who struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk).
At the plate, Skyline saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaiden Brown, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
Kettle Run was able to grind out a solid win over Skyline in their previous matchup back in June of 2025, winning 8-3. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
