Lake Arthur extended the longest winning streak in 6-Man District 1 (6 Man) this week by beating New Mexico School for the Deaf, 56-12. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
Lake Arthur made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 132 from 221. The advance stemmed from a 56-12 victory over the Roadrunners last week.
6-foot-2 quarterback Jacob Benally of San Jon/Grady is the league leader in passing yards this season with 521. He has also thrown 15 touchdowns. On the ground, Jose Porras's team's Miguel Rubio has rushed for 686 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Rubio. The Lake Arthur star has six catches for 190 yards.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between the Coyotes and Clovis Christian. San Jon/Grady enters the contest ranked 11th in the state, while the Eagles ranks 13th.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Panthers take on Dora. Lake Arthur has allowed 40 points this season, while the Coyotes have given up 90. The Panthers allowed 12 points last week as they topped New Mexico School for the Deaf.
