There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. A special shoutout goes to Somerville's senior Jalahn Dabney, who scored seven total touchdowns in the team's most recent match.
Game of Inches
Things turned out as expected for Burlington Township last week -- mostly, at least. The team was expected to win big, but the final result was not so decisive. It won an extremely close contest against Winslow Township with a final score of 7 - 6. One major factor in the win was the play of junior Rodney Vines jr, who picked up 126 yards on the ground. The razor-thin margin made this game the most thrilling one of the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of last week's main attractions was the confrontation between St. Joseph Regional and St. Peter's Prep, 2nd and 3rd in the power rankings, respectively. St. Joseph Regional took its game by a score of 16 - 7. The win raised it up one spot in the power rankings.
No Stoppin 'Em
85. That was the combined point total for Delaware Valley and Somerville when they went head to head last week, and it set the benchmark for all power ranking teams. Somerville blew past Delaware Valley 58 - 27. Even if it didn't bump Somerville up the rankings, the win at least kept the team from dropping.
Next Week's Big Game
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between Delbarton (25th in the power rankings) and Don Bosco Prep (6th). Both teams are coming in hot off of wins in their previous games. Of course, Delbarton and Don Bosco Prep can't both win again this week, so we'll learn on Friday which team falters and which extends its success.
