After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Seacrest Country Day, the Barron Collier Cougars were happy to have found some success on Wednesday. They blew past Palmetto Ridge 65-35 at home. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Barron Collier also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2022.
Barron Collier's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rebecca Van't Hoff, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was PEYTON HEFFLEFINGER, who scored 18 points.
Palmetto Ridge's loss came despite strong showings from Haley Cousins and Jordyn Villani. Cousins scored nine points, while Villani scored 13 points.
Palmetto Ridge struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Barron Collier pulled down 16 offensive rebounds.
Barron Collier is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4-1 record this season. As for Palmetto Ridge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Barron Collier will square off against Gulf Coast at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th. As for Palmetto Ridge, they will head out on the road to face off against Lely at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th. Lely will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
