The Whitharral Panthers will be playing at home against the Morton Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Whitharral knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Morton likes a good challenge.
Whitharral can now show off 17 landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. They claimed a resounding 80-31 victory over Meadow on the road. Given Whitharral's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 396th, while Meadow is ranked 1027th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Whitharral's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Paige Smith, who scored 29 points along with three steals. Smith has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Madi Chavez, who scored 17 points along with six assists.
Morton suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They were outmatched by Whiteface at home and fell 66-16. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Morton in their matchups with Whiteface: they've now lost five in a row.
Whitharral pushed their record up to 23-4 with that victory, which was their tenth straight on the road. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 36.7 points. As for Morton, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-12.
Everything came up roses for Whitharral against Morton in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 69-28 win. Does Whitharral have another victory up their sleeve, or will Morton turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
