The Madeira MUSTANGS/AMAZONS will challenge the Anderson Raptors at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Madeira sitting on three straight victories and Anderson on four.
On Monday, Madeira needed a bit of extra time to put away Reading. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Blue Devils, sneaking past 3-1. Three seems to be a good number for the MUSTANGS/AMAZONS as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Carson Shafer made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Shafer wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Sammy McClain, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Anderson won against Milford on Wednesday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Raptors came out on top against Walnut Hills by a score of 7-4.
Connor Fecher tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over 5.1 innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Nick Rosiello was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Carson Glen, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI.
Anderson's victory bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Madeira, their win bumped their record up to 15-5.
Tuesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Madeira has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .433. However, it's not like Anderson struggles in that department as they've averaged .446. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
