The Ponchatoula Green Wave will be playing at home against the Archbishop Rummel Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ponchatoula has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 436 points over their last six matches.
Ponchatoula has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 29 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Lutcher 80-32 at home. Given Ponchatoula's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while Lutcher is ranked 229th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Archbishop Rummel strolled past East Jefferson with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 52-35.
Archbishop Rummel's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Denim Smith, who scored 11 points along with 9 rebounds and 3 blocks, and Jamard Jones, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Smith is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now blocked two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Chance Joseph, who scored 9 points.
Ponchatoula has yet to lose a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 6-0 record. As for Archbishop Rummel, their victory bumped their record up to 8-4.
