Syracuse's Zach Heitkamp recorded the longest rushing play in C1 District 2 this season in his game against Sandy Creek last week. Heitkamp ran for 76 yards on the play and finished with 196 on the day as his team beat the Cougars.
Syracuse added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Sandy Creek, 53-7. The victory was the fourth in a row for Rick Nordhues' team.
The Rockets' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Heitkamp contributed 196 yards.
Heitkamp was a passing and rushing force as Syracuse beat Jamey Boelhower's team.
Heitkamp was the most successful running back in the league this week. Teammate Trey Mueller added to the ground attack by rushing for 104 yards.
Falls City's Mitchell Harling and Jordan Stoller led C1 District 2 in both passing and receiving yards. Harling has thrown for 67 yards this season, while Stoller, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 2 catches for 78 yards. Heitkamp from the Rockets leads the league in rushing with 478 yards.
Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when the Tigers' Stoller goes up against Syracuse's Mitchell Stilmock.
Next week's game between Falls City and the Rockets will feature a good passing match up as Harling will test his arm against Stilmock's defensive ability.
One of the league's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when Darin Fritz's team and Syracuse face off next week.
At the moment, the Tigers are in third, while the Rockets are in first.
There should be lots of points scored when Falls City and Syracuse face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Tigers comes in having scored 36 this season, while the Rockets have scored 59. Falls City scored 58 points last week as it defeated Lincoln Lutheran.
