The Harvest Community Warriors will face off against the Parsons Christian Academy Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Harvest Community has given up an average of 11.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
Harvest Community managed to slip by Duval Charter the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Harvest Community lost 15-0 to Duval Charter on Wednesday. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Harvest Community saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Wood, who went 1-for-2 with one double. That double was Wood's first of the season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Parsons Christian Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They put the hurt on Cedar Creek Christian with a sharp 14-2 victory on Friday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Lions' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
The team relied heavily on Justin Collazo, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Dominic Lacombe was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Parsons Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cedar Creek Christian only posted an OBP of .480.
Harvest Community's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Parsons Christian Academy, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Harvest Community has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .477. However, it's not like Parsons Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .514. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
