Two dominant guards in Daudi Aweyso and Dominick Phannolath are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Granger Lancers will head out on the road to face off against the Hunter Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Granger is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
Granger suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 84-47 loss at the hands of Cyprus. Granger has struggled against Cyprus recently, as their match on Tuesday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Granger got a solid performance out of Stephen Kpaleh, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Gukeisen, who scored five points.
Meanwhile, Hunter's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by Juan Diego Catholic at home and fell 68-34. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Hunter has scored all season.
Zaquel Cossa put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Uluaki Taukiuvea, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Granger bumped their record down to 2-12 with that loss, which was their 19th straight at home. As for Hunter, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.
Granger and Hunter were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in January of 2023, but Granger came up empty-handed after a 66-65 defeat. Can Granger avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
