The Doherty Spartans had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.9 points), and they went ahead and made it eight on Monday. They breezed by Liberty on the road to the tune of 76-39. Given Doherty's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 17th, while the Lancers are ranked 143rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
James Pulliam continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 27 points and ten rebounds. He is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for five games straight. Another player making a difference was Kaleb Foster-Gebur, who scored ten points along with three blocks.
Several Lancers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cameron Waithe-Cunningham, who scored 15 points along with two steals. London Praytor was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two steals and two blocks.
Liberty struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Doherty is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. As for Liberty, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-12.
Doherty will head out on the road to square off against the Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing isn't great for Rampart: they have been struggling with five straight losses at home, while the Spartans have snatched up five consecutive wins on the road. Liberty will take on the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
