This season hasn't been kind to the Clear Creek Golddiggers, who are still winless after their fourth matchup. They were the victim of a rough 43-22 defeat at the hands of Bishop Machebeuf on Tuesday. Clear Creek found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and post eight fewer assists than your opponent.
Despite the loss, Clear Creek still got an impressive performance from Shar Mckown, who scored seven points along with five blocks. That's the first time this season that Mckown posted two or more blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Aerah Fulton, who scored four points along with six rebounds.
Bishop Machebeuf found their leader in underclassman Massaran Ciza, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Ciza is absolutely dominating the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Emily Salazar, who scored seven points along with four steals and two blocks.
Clear Creek bumped their record down to 0-4 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 17.0 points per game. As for Bishop Machebeuf, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.
Clear Creek will head out on the road to challenge Non Varsity Opponent at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bishop Machebeuf, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Aurora West College Prep Academy at 4:30 p.m. Aurora West College Prep Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 18 points in their last ten games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
