The Carvers Bay Bears scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They walked away with a 67-59 win over Scott's Branch. The win was just what Carvers Bay needed coming off of a 67-41 defeat in their prior match.
Carvers Bay found their leader in underclassman Kenard Heyward, who scored 22 points along with six assists and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Heyward has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jaquan Hannah, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
Scott's Branch's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jordan Kind, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Nyren Bowman was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with three steals.
Carvers Bay's victory bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Scott's Branch, their loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 4-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carvers Bay will take on Hemingway at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Scott's Branch won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Johnsonville at 7:45 p.m. on January 17th. Johnsonville is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
