Basketball Recap: Somerset Comes Up Short

Fans were treated to a battle of the Bulldogs on Thursday. Somerset came up short against Burbank, falling 58-37. Somerset has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Somerset saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Evelyn Hernandez shot 40% from the field en route to 18 points and six rebounds. Hernandez is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games she's played dating back to last season. Torres Rylee was another key player, putting up four points and six boards.

Nyila Botello had a dynamite game For Burbank., going 12-for-17 to rack up 29 points and four steals. The dominant performance also gave Botello a new career-high in shooting accuracy (71%). Another player making a difference was Savannah Botello, who posted nine points and seven rebounds.

Somerset now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Burbank, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Somerset has already played their next contest, an 81-64 loss against Sharyland on the 13th. As for Burbank, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 95-38 defeat against Liberty Hill on the 13th.
