The Wasatch Wasps will head out on the road to face off against the Salem Hills Skyhawks at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Wasatch is ranked 20th, while Salem Hills is ranked 30th).
Last Friday, Wasatch strolled past Cedar Valley with points to spare, taking the game 51-36.
Ashley Garner was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 20 rebounds. She hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Behnke, who scored 17 points.
Meanwhile, Salem Hills beat Spanish Fork 56-45 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Salem Hills.
Brooke Warren continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 19 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Hattie Parkinson was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Wasatch's win bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Salem Hills, they pushed their record up to 10-4 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Tuesday's game is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Wasatch have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 40.1% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Salem Hills struggles in that department as they've made 37.4% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Wasatch beat Salem Hills 60-52 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wasatch since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
