Football Recap: Venice Comes Up Short at Home Against St. Monica + How To Watch

Venice unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell 23-16 to the St. Monica Mariners on Friday.

Although Venice took the loss, they still got scores from Donner Livingston and William Oeser.

Venice didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Alexander Camarillo, Oeser, and Donte Ross picked up one apiece. Oeser has been hot for a while, having also posted five or more total tackles the last nine times he's played. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Bradley Cassier looked great while leading his team to the win, throwing for 269 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, and also rushing for 42 yards and one score.

Looking ahead, Venice will be playing at home against Granada Hills Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for St. Monica, they are taking a road trip to square off against Peninsula at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
